My brother has an Ultegra triple. He had the LBS "disengaged" the granny gear, so the he can't shift into it, since all of his rides have been on flats. Now, he wants it engaged so he'll have it doing hills.

I thought that they just simply moved the L-limit screw way over so you can't shift into the granny, but I was wrong (I think). I tried moving the L-limit screw back to allow it to shift to the granny gear, but I ran out of room on the limit screw. I unscrewed the limit screw all the way and it's not even close to shifting to the granny.

Does anybody know how the disagaged the granny gear?

it sounds like the cable tension needs to be reset, pretty much the derailler readjusted from scratch. Why would they do that, if you dont want to use it then dont.

Just start from scratch.......set limit screws without cable, then re-attach cable.
