I just got a call from an old friend who says he has a gorgeous Eddie Merckx Corsa Extra with full Dura Ace from '87

Is there anyway I can get any information on this bike? Is there a fourm specific to these Merckx bikes?

Looks like I can get this bike for a song if I want too, but know nothing about it yet. He says it retailed for about 5K back then, but he got it for $2,800 due to a family member working at the store.

Any info would be appreciated...

In summary I'll tell you this even though I haven't seen the bike: It's a great bike. If your idea of a "song" is anywhere near mine it's the best cycling deal you may ever make.

Another vote for 'Just do it!'

There's a guy around here that rides an '86 Merckx during the winter. Downtube shifters, maybe he upgraded to an 8 speed cassette. Very sweet ride, IMO. If you don't want it, PM me with your friends phone #. ;)
