I caught that stupid cold thats going around southern california 4 or 5 days before my 50 mile charity ride for amgen this sunday. I think I'm going to be all better by sunday but i don't know if i'll be up to the 50 mile ride and might have to settle for the 25 mile ride. LAME.

I hope you just got the sniffles....if it's the same cold as in Indiana, it ain't the cold....it's the bloody flu and you're going to feel like death warmed over for about a bloody week :(

I conquered it i've been in bed at 10:30 every night tons of fluids took a day off of work
ate a ton of food and i think it never really reached its full course but my lungs still have some fluid in them which i don't think will serve me well on the 25 miles of hills on the 50 mile course.

This doesn't have much science behind it but when I get sick or even feel it coming on:
- eat raw garlic cloves. Do it before bed, brush your teeth and you won't even know you have eaten them
Or just put more in your food
- eat spicy food/teas
- sleep a lot
- make sure to take vitamins

HAd a similar experience a 5 days before the MS150 one year. That's when I became a believer in zinc lozenges.

I woke up today the day of the ride feeling over the cold thank god. I rode pretty strong today actually, even had some hard sprints in me and broke my own speed record.

the flu is all over central Mississippi..

one local school had 400 students out +10+ teachers/staff...

^^ Ditto in New Mexico. The wife has it full-blown. Somehow, myself and our two kids are clean. I'm crossing my fingers, as it doesn't look fun at all. I attribute some of my resistance to 1,000mg vitamin C daily with tons of water and regular excercise.

gawd! I hope all you westerners/southerners/southwesterners stay the ell away from chicago!
