Do you ride Shimano, Campagnolo or SRAM?

Right now I ride SRAM. The bike I will be picking up today will have Shimano.

Shimano. I use a SRAM cassette, but I don't think that qualifies me to check it, too.

I'm not a zealot about it, but I do like almost everything about campy -- aesthetics, performance, history, and especially the thumb buttons. If campy disappeared, I wouldn't be too disappointed with SRAM red... although it would increase the chances of me becoming a downtube-shifting, retro grouch, disciple in the church of Cassave.
Campy make MTB parts??
Whoa, I didn't know!!
Otherwise, Shimano road, Shimano/SRAM mix on Mtb. And neither for MTB brakes.
Shimano chains suck ( IMO). Powerlink all the way...

I have no idea how to answer this poll. I'm only familiar with Shimano and only because it's the name on the components on my bike. And if you asked me what those were, I'd just point and say, "that silver thing there," and "that other silver thing over there." :p

Oh, I'm confused. We are to vote what we are currently riding or what our preference is? Cause if it's the former, I can vote Shimano.

Good point.
Haven't ever used campy. Not a item spec'd on most bike.
because of this I have no vote. As is, I'd have to check 2 of the 3.
I know, I'll vote Campy for no reason other than never used it, so WTF....

I've been riding both Campy and Shimano and have never ridden Campy. I like the way Shimano shifts better then SRAM even though SRAM looks better.

I use Shimano, but I really don't care. Whatever comes on the bike is what I will use.

I totally agree. I always buy SRAM chains.

I've never tried Campy which I've heard is incredible ... I've got an ultegra/dura-ace combo on the roubaix and full dura-ace on the LOOK... and they are both awesome.

My first road bike has Shimano. Built up my 2nd bike with Shimano as well even though I wanted to try Campy. Couldn't get over the barrier of having 2 sets/types of wheels since they are incompatible.

I use the cheapmano that came on my cheapalized allez. It works fine if I keep it clean and in adjustment.

Manny, Moe or Jack?
I think Jack is the cute one myself, but my daughter prefers Manny, for some reason unfathomable to me...

Right now, I'm riding Shimano. The bike I'm going to be building up this spring will be SRAM, just because I was able to pick up a Force gruppo for about the same price as ultegra. Have to see how much I like it.

Sorry CJ, but when I try to put up more "interesting" poll questions, the uptights complain and the mods delete it.

I just sold my Litespeed which had full ultegra. I'm now riding another bike with 105, with no complaints.

Since Shimano comes stock on virtually all new bikes, and Campy on hardly any, it's surprising that Campy is scoring as high as it is. Probably because so many of the people voting are riding frame-up builds where the rider has the choice to do the right thing and go with Campy.:D

You will hardly ever see an off the rack bike with Campy. That is a very good reason to buy a frame and have it built with exactly what you want. I saved money by doing that as well. Campy brake/shift levers have a cleaner look to them without those cables sticking out. I cringe when I see an Italian frame with Japanese componets, but I am a bit of a bike snob:o Campagnolo

I must admit, it strikes a sad chord in me to see all those new Pinarellos covered in Shimano. :(

I voted SRAM simply because that is what I'll be switching to in the coming months.
Currently running Shimano Ultegra - and while it is great, and even though I have tried Dura-Ace - I've bitten the sweet, lucious apple that is SRAM.
Force will be on the Virata.
RED will be on the custom.

Thia food, Italian purse's, This is an multicultural community!
My Mtb has American, French, Italian, Japanese and Taiwanese parts...
Your officialy forgiven for mixing nationalities...
One bike with SRAM Red, one with Force, and another with Rival on the way. If I get around to replacing my TT frame I may just put the Shimano stuff back on, or possibly get another rival group.

One bike mongrel mix of stuff:
Campy, Shimano, Stronglight, Phil, Gipemme, Suntour
Both work great.

Check out the pedalforce group buy's on the Red.
http://pedalforce.com/online/product_info.php?products_id=7664
They got in some trouble from SRAM for selling the stuff at such a low price (something like 1300), so not sure what the new pricing will be. It looks like it may be over though.

$1300 is really not that cheap. Sounds about avg...
Who else is selling Red for $1300?
I really only want the shifters and rear derailleur but the once place that I found that was cheap is only selling full kits right now.
ronjon10
02-11-08, 11:49 AM
You can get the full 8 pc group for 1500 on Ebay. That's the cheapest I've seen it outside that reference to the group buy.
GVH bikes sells a full Red kit for 1372 (non ceramic BB). They're only selling full kits right now and I think they're back ordered.
