I'm about to cycle up for the first time in several weeks. I have to pick out just the right short sleeved jersey because the temperature is 80 degrees. I have to find my sunscreen, which is around here somewhere. I must remember to take plenty of water. Where are those sunglasses?
Oh, the humanity! :D

Not fair!! Not fair!! Not fair!! (she says while stomping her feet...)
80! That's too warm for me. I have those northern european genes that tend to wilt when the temp gets much above 75. It was a perfect 57 degrees here today. I really don't need much more than that, especially in Feb. But then I'm the type that dreads the dog days of August.
:D Good one.
Don't forget to wear your umbrella helmet.

I would love to see a temp above 50 at present. Getting close at around 45 tomorrow- so the TCR is set up with the hill climbing Gears- it has been polished to get rid of the oil marks on the white bits (Again) I hate white. And I have dug out the long sleeve light fleece to put under the windproof top coat. All I have to do now is find the energy for the planned ride.
I would be envious except...today is our household unofficial "Summer
in February". This morning I turned the thermostat up to 71 degrees (from
66 degrees) and put it on hold. One day every February, the wife and I
turn up the furnace, break out the shorts and "T" shirts and
bask in warmth.
Tomorrow it's back to reality, and a visit to the beach for "Winterfest"
celebration...Ice Sculptures, Snow Sculptures, Polar Plunge (a jump into
the lake for the young and foolish, and the Chilli-Chalange.
It got up to 35 last monday and tuesday and the roads were finally clear of slush, and I got the first two rides of the year in. Since then we've had 10 more inches of snow. 80 degrees eh. Prepare to be envious my $#*. :(

I can imagine riding in the British Isles, for me, would take a big jump in my commitment level.
Here in the Rock it's 67 degrees and just a few clouds! Wonderful!
Punxsutawney Phil is a liar!
Mid 60s here.

Hope you were out riding while tech was playing basketball.
Yeah, well last night I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.
A few scenes from today's ride. The last scene is a "MUP," well, actually a way to ride over the freeway. :D

Yeah, but just think. This August your temperature will still be 80 degrees but ours will be 97 degrees with about 90 percent humidity.
Thanks for the pictures and reports. I am reaching that sad point where memories of good riding weather are beginning to fade.
Does the phrase "Bugger Off" strike a chord?? ;)
It might actually make it to double digits here tomorrow, and its been slush riding all week, though I did see a bright light in the sky for a half hour or so this afternoon, I think its called the Sun, but its been so long I'm not sure...
I lived in both Indiana and Colorado. I was not a cyclist then. Good thing, I don't know how I would have survived the winters.
I now live in Central Texas (Leander, northwest of Austin). Went out for a wonderful club ride today. Sunny, 76 degrees, 11% RH, light winds. Yup, something can be said for living in the south and being a cyclist. :D
Ride On!

Um, you win. I'm envious.
That's a good lookin' group, BD. I love the expression on the little girl's face in front with the purple bike:)

I think it's time all of us suffering through this winter weather to visit DG!!
I will get a few days break from the cold weather as I'm leaving for Florida Wednesday:)

She must be upset on account of her purple sneakers being unavailable. :D
Great group pic...must have been a great ride.
I've gotta side w/ BIKENC on this'n. 80 is almost too warm for cycling. ...and WAY too warm for XC skiing. #2 son and I broke out the touring boards and did about 5 miles today. Perfect blue sky weather, and views of the Cascades that a lot of folks would kill for.

...where we have 3 seasons: summer, winter and chaos.
Heh heh! :D We broke a sweat today riding in almost-80 degrees with a deep blue sky and lots of snow still on the mountains. Lots of riders out including a gal wearing short shorts, a mid-rift top (or was it a sports bra?).
80, eh? That's warmer than my favorite riding temps, but still within my comfort zone. I'm okay up to about 86-87. We are still about 4 months from temps in the 80s.
I would love for it to be 50. Really looking forward to when we get that warm. Our average high hits 50 on March 28th, but we usually get a few days at 50+ before then. I think the last time we hit 50 was in early November. Tomorrow I would love for it to be 20.
Our average highs are 70+ from May 14 thorugh Sept 28, or 4 and a half months of 70s & 80s.
Hit the upper thirties in Salt Lake today. Great day for riding, except for the half-frozen slush and the dirty snowbanks. (Sigh) I hate winter. I asked my wife why we live here, and she claims it's because we're stupid.
She's probably right. :(
That's a good lookin' group, BD. I love the expression on the little girl's face in front with the purple bike:)
Yeah! I was just about to post that she looked like an Elvis fan with that little lip action...
DG... I had no idea you had such a mean streak in you.
Hope you were out riding while tech was playing basketball.
Basketball and tech, two things I have no use for. :p
I hear you, DG. We had 65* and sun; I wore my shorts for the first time since October. (Several people had to look away from the glare.) We spotted a couple of almond trees beginning to flower. Spring can't be far now!
Oh, the ride was terrific, too. :D

No Pics again!!!
I'm doing a couple of months of relieving teaching. The first week (Feb 4-8) it was mid 70s in the mornings and high 90s coming home. 12 miles each way. It just takes more water and a little more time in the evening. Heat is not hard over that distance, but one does need to be mindful of hydration state.
Looking at my outdoor thermometer this morning it says 9.
Looking at my weather bug, it's -14 and 41 below windchill.
It was mid-70's here yesterday, with no wind. The breeze when I was riding felt cool enought to put on a vest, but it felt hot when I stopped. By afternoon it was too hot for the vest. I rode to the pacific ocean at Avila Beach. The waves were big. There were surfers and body boarders, college kids sunning themselves, kids making sand castles, the bike trail was full of people enjoying the beautiful weather. It was a good day (except for that newfound creak coming from my bottom bracket!)

Is that newfound creak a tributary that leads to the ocean? :D
Hey, it's 50 outside today! :)
Oops. Never mind, I was looking at the wind speed.
We hit 50 yesterday, but I was at work. Today, 20 with 20-30 mph winds. I admit to being soft, I won't even go for a walk in that.
I'll be out in the Cali sunshine (I hope the rains are finished for the year) next week, but sadly can't take my bike.
Another beautiful day of riding in central Georgia. This time just me and my son on the local trail. He's slowly becoming a good MTB rider now that he has a good bike.

Watch what you say about Punxsutawney Phil, I grew up in Punxsutawney, PA.
DG you should have ridden the Tour de Palm Springs! It got up to 86 mid afternoon. Lovely day for a century!
Hope the weather holds for our first double century of the year next weekend (Feb. 16th - Butterfield).

Not by accident, either. As soon as I gave him the black bike, he went online looking for a red jersey so he could fly the UGA colors. That boy bleeds red and black. :D
WOOOF
76 in Tucson today . . . 110 six months from now!
