Just bought me a trek 5500 frame and bought me an english campagnolo record BB. I need to know what campagnolo record cranks i need to get for the BB. I'm confused on the sizes 170mm,172.5 mm or 175 mm. What does this mean? Would all fit the same? I have a 52cm size frame trek 5500. Thanks in advance for your inputs and it is highly appreciated.

While crank length is more relative to leg length, based on that frame size you should get the 170mm cranks.
The measurements are the length of the crankarm. Two riders with similar heights and similar frame sizes may use different crank lengths, its all relative to leg length. Unless you have super long legs and a little stubby torso the 170's will do it.

That is the length of the crank arms. The different lengths are to fit you and not the bottom bracket. With a 52cm frame I am would guess 170mm would be the correct size for you.
