Introductions - Howdy!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Skeexix here. Ten years a SF bike messenger (1980-1989) did a little touring, worked as a mechanic until 1993, but mostly a commuter these days. Still running my 1990 Stumpy Comp with no modular components, on my 3rd and probably last BB spindle, headset is well notched, but i ride mostly in a straight line anyhow.
Had a 1993 Avalanche, but it got stolen in New Orleans. Never liked that True Temper Groove Tube stuff anyhow (grumble, gripe, sour grapes spoken here . . .)

Hi Skeexix, so where are you located now? It sounds as if you aren't acting as a messenger anymore...
Welcome to BF!

I'm here in soggy Ithaca, NY, where we also have an East Hill. Actually. I was a messenger in New Orleans from 12/04 until Katrina.

East Hill is famous from one side of the country to the other :p !
I can see why you aren't a messenger any longer...at least not in New Orleans.

Welcome Aboard!
Was at the Cayuga Tri this past summer (will be there again this year) -- you people don't have many flat roads there do ya? :p
Didn't bring any of my bikes with me (road bus) so another friend had a spare --- his wife's little commuter. Needless to say - when out there and starting to hit one climb after another - I sorely wished I had my own bicycle!

This ain't Florida, hon! If you're in Ithaca, it's all uphill from the lake. Next time you're in town, tackle Bostwick Road or the 327 out past Treman Park.
New York State is just like that, though. Around Lake George they've got some little climbs that'll get yer heart started.
