I have been doing brick workouts for years but have only used one bike for training and racing. I recently bought a tri bike for racing and now use my road bike for training, but which should you use to get the most out of your brick workouts? The tri bike puts me in a far better position to keep me fresh off the bike and to not use up my "run" muscles and i understand that the point of a brick workout is to get your body used to the stess and finding your pace. My long drawn out question i guess is - will the road bike give me the same advantage in training or is it better to use my tri bike for these dedicated workouts?

I'd recommend that you use your tri bike when training for tris. You'll be able to run better off the tri bike compared to the road bike, and you'll build your tri-specific muscles and strength.

Use the tri bike. Train how you race, you will be the fastest this way.
