I decided to ride my bike to my parents house in Boston from my place near Hartford, CT...I went solo and it was DAMN cold when I left, but 106 miles later, it felt great..and a very enjoyable experience! Just wanted to share.

I felt a little sore, but not that bad...Ive been doing close to that milage every other weekend this summer, so it was 20 more miles this time..I got a ride back to CT with a friend...One century was enough for this weekend :-)

Great job. Nice to see another joining the team!
You will see after doing your 3rd solo century that all other rides will be a LOT easier.
While not all of my centuries were solos this year I completed my 21st 100+ ride yesterday.
Longest solo ride this year 132 miles.
Longest ride with me and ONE other this year: 163 miles. (8 hours 20 minutes on bike, 11 hrs total)
Longest ride without stopping: Bike Across Florida: 162 miles in 7 hours...
I also completed 6-gap without stopping but I took it slow at 6:37 hours (10,000 ft of climbing).
Great Job,
Your right, the mornings have been cold lately. How long did it take you.

Way to go!!! Evrybody should do a century, just to say they have done it. I got to do 2 this year, but I couldn't do the seagull in maryland, dammit, My borther lives there, so I have free lodging, next year I will ride.

I'd be interested in doing that one day. I am currently in Chicago, but my hometown is Cheshire. What roads did you take to get from Boston to Hartford?
Congrats on your achievement, and especially in this weather! I have a 110 mile ride coming up myself- I feel ya about doing this in the cold- I'm sure I'll have similar concerns too! :D

reverse route...Hartford to Boston....I took back roads....
Rt 44 East and then a few other small roads (197 and 198) up into Mass where I picked up route 16 and took that all the way into my town....
It was good...mostly 40 miles an hour type one lane roads
