General Cycling Discussion - Pacific Northwest

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm going to [hopefully] be moving up to Oregon or Washington in about two years when I go back to school full-time. Would move now, but I'm stuck in California by my absolutely kick-*** job (that will end up helping me finance a goodly chunk of my eventual doctorate).
Here's a question, if you know: What's the Unix sysadmin market up there like? I'm going to try moving about a year from now, so I can live in Portland (or Seattle) a year to establish residency before I become a full-time student...

That's odd, Pete. I am from the extreme Midwest part of Iowa. The problem with the Midwest is that it is too big, and one gets lost trying to find their way out of it.

Peas are really tasty, and they won't kill you, either!

Allright, I think this thread went off top eh? Probably a sign that not that many people here are from the northwest pacific.
Hey Pat, I live in Vancouver, Canada. About as Pacific you can get without riding in snow 365 days a year!
I have to say, you'd be hard pressed to find a better place to bike(unless in Europe) whether road or mountain. Vancouver is a big city without all the tall buldings and the smog. The population is low, roads are wide, and the drivers are friendly to bikers.
Other than the rain, its just plain ideal.
