Pretty darned satisfied :)
It's funny how perceptions can change so much.
The hard parts just weren't as hard as I remembered from 3 weeks ago.
In fact I ended up hitting the first climb of the day (1.5 miles of about 4%) at a much faster pace than I had intended. Once you establish a pace it's hard to change the "mo" so I just pushed on up. Last time I caught a red light halfway up and so had a little break. No such luck this time. And once at the top, I had another 2 miles of 1.5% to go before I could turnaround and run downhill for a while. But that was after a quick banana break and peeling off a layer. It started out chilly but got warm in a hurryThis led to the climb I've been dreading but that just wasn't as long or as steep as I had remembered, either. Still, I was no where near the "peak riding form" I was in before vacation and it just took forever to warm up and get loose. I finally did... just in time for that first hill and after that, my quads were barking at me all morning.
The flip side is that some of the parts I recalled as easy took more effort than I thought they did before but that might've just been those barking quads again.
In the end, it's 25 miles under my belt and I just couldn't have asked for a better day to ride.
66 degrees and sunny blue skies with a hint of whispy cirrus :p
Oh, and here we are before the start.
I asked George what advise he had for a 55 year old getting back into it.
His answer? "Just keep pedaling"
The man's a sage ;)
And dig that nice commerative jersey.
I am one happy (and tired. and sore) guy today.

I have more photos but they'll have to wait if I put 'em up at all.
I'm tired and I have to go start dinner.
