No, but I fully expected the 100,000th member to be a sock puppet...

Word.

A sockpuppet is an online identity used for purposes of deception within an Internet community. It's usually a member who sets up a second account for purposes of trolling, or someone who has been banned, and wants to return whilst banned.
It's a cause for an immediate banning here.

Strange.
Why would someone who was banned want to post again?
Oh well !!!
i think you should take into account those members who are nonactive, banned, or have left. 100,000 doesnt seem very accurate.

To cause trouble, for one reason. Some people just hate a place so much that they post over and over how much they hate the place.
Then there are those who got banned, but still want to talk to their friends.
Then there's those who keep threatening to leave, and stop using their old username so that it looks as if they've left, but they come back as a 'new' member because they just can't help coming back here. They've made such a fuss over leaving that they would look rather silly to come back.

There has been at least one time when all inactive members, who had never posted in all the time they had been registered, were removed from the database.
There are always large numbers of inactive members on any board of this size. Banned members are a tiny fraction of the total, and consist of probably 90-95% spammers and sock puppets. I don't know how members who have 'left' would be counted.
