Road Cycling - Castelli Bibs

Ok, again with my bib questions. After losing numerous bids on ebay for bibs I think Im going to 'buy now' a pair of the castelli y-fuso. I went and tried them on at a shop today, good thing I did. Assumed I would get a med, small fit much better. Anyway, anyone riding on these? Hows the chamois? I tried castellis, PI, sugoi, descente brands today and with the exception of the castellis the chamois felt big and bulky. I know castelli's a big name so Im thinking these are a high quality product, am I right? Thanks

I have a pair of castellis shorts love them. that big and bulky feeling goes away on long rides.

I bought a set of the same bibs from that same guy. I couldn't pass them up when he was selling them for $99.00 about a month ago. The padding feels a little too rigid when you first start wearing them, but after that they feel awesome. I would recommend them to anyone and I may buy another set as they have become my favorite bibs. I might wait for them to go down to $99.00 again though.

BigDave321, do you have any problems with the logos wearing off or with the material getting stuck on the saddle nose? Those are the only things Ive heard that could be bad. Also, I tried some on today, the small fit better, but Ive heard castelli products are made in the US and Italy, and that the italian ones run smaller. Does the US get mostly the US made ones or are we importing?

Funny that you mention about the logo wearing off. It hasn't worn off yet, but I've been worrying about that since I got them. The Castelli lettering does seem to have cracked a little bit though. The logo on my Giordana bibs wore off about a month after I got them. As far as the material getting caught on the nose, this only happens when I don't have them pulled up far enough in the crotch. I didn't know that Castelli made some of their clothing in the US. Mine were made in Italy and are about a size smaller. Hope this helps.

I have 2 pair of Castelli and I like them, the bulky
feeling does go away. The logos on mine wore much
better than the Louis Garneau shorts that I have, peeled
off after 2 rides.
My current favourite bibs are Etxe-Ondo chamios feels like real chamois (its not tho), like most Euro bibs they run VERY small.

Love mine. The chamois doesn't bind or bunch at all, and the fabric the shorts are made of feels more supple. My legs are big enough that I usually destroy any fancy labels on shorts, but these have held up so far. I always hand wash them, though. That's a lot of money to throw in a washing machine.

Try Campagnolo as well. I love mine, and they may be less expensive as well.

I have a set of castelli bibs I picked up 3 weeks ago. They are great. I wore them for the first time on a century ride and was comfy the whole way. I was just going to buy some shorts but the shop I went to was closing out some Castelli stuff and I picked the bibs up for 59.00, dont remember wich "model" they were but reg. price was 129.00.
