I'm building up a Specialized Roubaix Comp ('06) and put on the front brake over the weekend. Went to put on the rear brake and found something odd. The bolt is the standard short length for a rear brake, with the long barrel nut, but because of the way the frame is made, the long nut doesn't fit through the frame to engage the bolt. The area the nut is supposed to fit through is too narrow.

Does the Specialized Roubaix have some kind of proprietary rear brake mount set-up? I'm putting on a Shimano Ultregra BR-6500. It's almost as though I need another front brake (with the long bolt, short nut) to put on the back.

Comments.

Nope... no proprietary brake. If that nut doesn't fit inside the bridge then you've got a bad frame.

Got it. Line the nut up right and push harder!

All's well. Thanks for the input!
