Hey everyone. I thought I would start this thread to find out who in the NE Houston area is a road cyclist along with me. I'll post a little introduction for myself and hopefully you guys can do the same... assuming you exist.

I'm 23, starting riding a couple of years ago. I just recently got my first road bike after a few years on a hybrid and I'm loving it. I usually do a ride out to Crosby and back on weekends, and ride on a trainer in the very early morning on weekdays. I just became proficient enough with the bicycle to feel comfortable riding in a group, so I'm going to attend the QLS Group Ride for the first time next weekend. I also plan on doing the upcoming (24th, i think) Lions Club Ride.

To give you an idea of where I'm at as a roadie, just this past weekend I road 30 miles at 18 mph average (this was the goal I had set for myself before I started bothering group rides with my presence.)

I ride a blue/black/white '08 Specialized Allez Elite. Pretty much stock right now except for a nice Thomson seatpost.

Hello KidTruth, I don't live near you, but I thought I'd comment anyway. Hope you find some folks from here to ride with as it's lots of fun.

You might sign up for the Hotter N Hell in August as well. Lots of BF members meet up and ride together.

The QLS Group is a good group. They are well organized for an informal group. Most of them ride in your speed range. They break into several ability groups and "leave no one behind".

There are several smaller Groups that leave from the Starbucks at Towncenter in Kingwood on Saturday morning 7:00.

The Kingwood Clippers is for serious riders (fast).

The Kingwood Triathlon Club lists most Humble/Atascosita/Kingwood area weekly rides on their website kingwoodtriathlonclub.com.

Additional information can be found on the Bicycle Texas website.

As far as organized rides, the Humble Lions ride is Saturday Feb. 23 (not the 24). The Gator Ride in Baytown on March 1 and the Tour de Houston are also good. See Bicycle Texas for these and others.

Look for yellow shoes on a LeMond Zurich.
