With fall missing in action here in chicago I've been thinking of putting some wider tyres on the ride. I've checked out the forums and sheldon's site and still am totally lost on what I can/cannot put on my rims. Here's what I've got:

rear- Fir net97 (700x20c)
front- mavic cxp 21 (no idea what size. larger diameter than the rear)

reccommendations??

Fat tires on skinny rims...?? I used to ride Specialized Nimbus 700c X 41's on my Mavic MA40's.....no problem whatsoever.

just letting you all know webster's say we have to start spelling reccommendations recommendations. Getting rid of that second "c" is a travesty, send spam. www.websters.com

Im using 700x38c michelins on campy montreal rims on my crosscheck right now. the bigger issue for you will probably be tire clearance on the frame/fork, and brake(s) unless youve got a cross bike.

I have 700x35 on regular road rims. I haven't ridden them yet, but I am throwing them on an old frame I am building up just to try something different. (My other two bikes have 700x23.) I'm hoping they will be more comfortable for tooling around the city.

I run Avocet 35s (actually measure 32) on a Mavic MA3 and a Sun CR18 with no problems. The Sun is a touring type rim while the MA3 seems to be a standard road rim.
