Anyone know where I can find a good rear wheel or hub with a 3/8" axle?

get a profile hub and convert it to 3/8 allen key stubs. and get a ti driver and you'll be laughing.

Why would you want a 3/8 on the rear?

Because that is the size of my frame's dropout.

I got my 14mm axles milled down to 3/8ths to fit my frame.

Hard size to find these days, fuzzbox.

Seems like you will need to put a rear together I would have to say to use a odyssey v2 cassette(albes.com) I think that is 3/8 axle or even the odyssey race cassette 3/8.(same) Sun rhynolite xl or a sun BFR and 14 g spokes on 3 lace cross. Which should run at least 140.00 just for a rear wheel.

or you can buy a sun superstock pro for 135.00 from danscomp. It comes with the rhynolites, dt swiss spokes, brass nipples and sealed dual drive hubs for 135.00 for front and rear. That I s what I'd buy.

Nice, I didn't even see that. I have some rhynolites that came with the bike but they are like 9 yrs old and need to be replaced.

Why don't you just open up the dropouts and fit a 14mm axle in there ?

Use a ruler and a sharpie to mark it, then use an angle grinder to machine it down by hand.

Poverty makes cheap 3/8" hubs.

Don't put $250+ into a a 3/8" to fit your Walmart bike.

Too bad it isn't a Walmart bike. My frame is probably better than yours.

Is there something wrong with 3/8 dropouts on my frame? It's from '99 cut it some slack. USA 4130 chrome moly.

You will have more selection with 14 mil than 3/8 but maybe use the hub you already have and lace it to a nice rim?

I know I'll eventually file it. The rim is nice I just need to replace the hub.

You mean chromoly right?
No such thing as chrome moly.
Chromoly is a unique mix of different alloys.
Not chrome...

Same thing, but spelt in a different way like tyre and tire. Proof: "4130, also known as "Chrome Moly" (short for chromium molybdenum) is a general purpose steel that has been widely used by the motorsports industries for ..." Google.
