Southern California - Palomar climb-a-thon, Sat 2/16

I'm definitely out. Need to spend time at home.

It will probably be plowed this morning but I can't find anything on current road conditions. The last update on the local Cleveland National Forest site was 1/8.

I'll call the ranger station early this afternoon and see if they have an update.

I won't ride up there tomorrow......too much snow and slush gonna be on the downhills.

It will feel good after getting a nice sun tan last weekend. Weather said it will be low 40s tomorrow so most of the snow will stick for the weekend. If canceled I might make the trip up there

If anybody decides to head for Calabasas, Pick me up in Costa Mesa, I'm just a few minutes off the 405.
In any case interested in checking the Palomar climb too, next time it comes around I'll be looking for the post.

The CHP says that Hwy 76 is closed from 4.6 miles east of Rincon Springs to Highway 79 due to snow. 4.6 is somewhere near the South Grade Rd. fork. I couldn't get through to the county public works in Valley Center - they're probably busy today.

news said pally got 12 1/2" of snow that one day. Soo much snow there where guys SNOWBOARDING up there!!!!

Here's my 3rd hand account of Saturday at Palomar.

Roads were open but wet from the melt. Bigger problem was the billion people that drove up to see the snow.
