I saw this while googling my GT track frame:

is that like soldered and tied spokes from hell?!?

crazy lookin'

is this common on track bikes?

To answer your first question: no.. Twisted spokes don't seem to offer the same benefit (however miniscule) that tying and soldering do

To answer your second question: no again. just not as stiff.

so just looks interesting, and thats it.

I still run 3 cross, and I see SO many different spoke patterns now, but never this yet,...no wonder.

I would also think that would be a pain to true.

I hadn't thought about that config in a looooooooong time. I remember it popping up back in the late 80's early 90's and if my memory serves, I saw it more in mountain biking than on road bikes. I honestly can't remember what people were saying back then about what possible advantage it was supposed to have, only that the trend did not last that long. Big surprise, huh?
