As a lot of you know already I have re-upped my USAC racing license and decided to also throw down for an ABR license for this season. What's been disappointing is that there are no road events listed on USAC for this year for IL, IN, or WI.

I am finding it hard to plan out a year/season at this point. Recursive was kind enough to point me to the ABR, Wisport, and Superweek calendars, but I was wondering if anyone had any good links to Chicago area racing calendars. One of these suburbs has to has a weekly crit series for Pete's sake....

Yep... that's the one I'm using as well to get my race calendar together.

QFT.

It's called Google, Psimet. Give it a go.

Google is usually worthless at finding obscure pieces of data like up to date links to local races. It just so happens in this case there exists CBR - and it comes up in a Google search. Lucky me.

Still - point of the thread is to get some input from area veterans about what schedules they find are the most useful. To quote Recursive when he passed his links on to me...

It took me years of practice to build up this list. Cherish it forever.

With that, I willingly recuse myself from the topic at hand.

South Chicago Wheelmen (http://www.southchicagowheelmen.com/) put on the Tuesday night critirum series (every Tuesday) at the Ace Paint Factory in Matteson, IL. This starts April 1st at 6:00pm till dusk.

p.s.. I only know this because my boyfriend races with SCW and he is reciting this information to me as I type:D

Matteson is about 20 miles away from where I live, but I'm never home by 6pm :( I would love to attend some of those Tuesday crits.

Thanks for posting about those Tuesday night Crits. Seems like a good place to see how slow I would be at racing. I read up a little bit about the SCW and their crits - anybody know if they are going to be holding their events at the paint factory after last year's tragic accident?

I'm thinking, yes. Accidents happen everywhere, no matter where you go.

As stated, I race for SCW. Background on last year's tragedy can be found following this link.

We are currently talking with Ace Hardware about safety concerns. I hesitate to say too much but will add we are anticipating a favorable outcome and that we soon expect official word.

This is moving the radius out a little bit (but isn't all of Wisc. and Iowa considered a Chicago suburb? I know Door County is... LOL) but it covers racing in Iowa. I've been looking at doing a few really early seasons races down there and maybe a few later in the year.
I lived in Iowa (Waterloo) for a few years and it still amazes me how much earlier they get spring then we do up here in the Green Bay area...

Thanks for helping to put some food on my table during that time. If you checked you'd see I bleed JD Green and CAT Yellow and black.
