The SRAM PG980 cassette is now installed on the MTB and it is a thing of beauty to behold. Now I know why the high end cassettes are the high end. I would assume that the PG990 is equally nice. Darn I love these new fangled bike parts..............oops. no offence ment retro grouch.

What does it do better than the cheaper cassettes?

It makes me smile :)

Its light. Not that it matters with me on the bike

It was a special closeout at $35 free shipping so it turns out to have been a cheap cassette...:D

And best of all the new wide tooth spider is less likely to cut grooves in my freewheel.

All in all, since BD has inspired me to travel further and further off the beaten path, and since I needed to replace the 12/26 cassette on the MTB (along with tires) voila!
