No question, just a rant...

I did the Blue Water Rampage ride on Sunday. It goes along the Detroit river starting in Michigan then you ride a bit and take a ferry accross into Canada. The only problem was that two hours before the ride I woke up on the bathroom floor. I guess I had too much fun catching up with my friends.

I ended up doing the 60 mile ride. It was a nice day but the course is sooooo flat. This was the first time I rode my fixed gear in a group. I was a little worried because I was brakeless but I did not have any problems. I was surprised at how easy it is to adjust your speed on a fixed too keep up with the group. You also have to stop a bit sooner for the traffic signs but my friends got used to that.

I am glad I brought my fixed gear and not my regular road bike. Flat courses are so boring on freewheels.

A rant works a little better when whatever happened isn't your own fault. :) I think riding on a hangover is better anyways because it is more of a challenge.

As far as the ride goes, is it 30 miles and then you turn around and go back, or what? And does the ferry ride come half way through?

Ok not a rant, just a bit of self abuse!!

I think it was 15 miles to the ferry, cruise around Canada a bit, have lunch and then take the ferry back over, then the parking lot. When you are around the river it is really beautiful but the inland part is super flat and boring.

Temperature was sunny and in the low 50°F's (10°C) so it was cool but not cold. This has got to be my favorite time to do long rides in Michigan. Colors will change in a few weeks and that is nice too.

One of the guys I was riding with tried my fixed while waiting for the ferry. I think it scared him at first but know I think he wants to build one. Peolpe just do not get the concept of no mechanical brakes!
