I was looking for a trail route that is bike freindly from Chelan up to Stehekin. I was thinking the lake shore trail cuz it's nice and flat and I know it from hiking. I just dont know if it's a trail cyclists can use. Anyone know? I think any trail that is rated for pack animals and equestrian use is also rated for bike use. I've had no luck with the USDA forest service web-site, it constantly re-routes me to motorcycle and single track directories.

Anyone know? Do I need to go up the other side of the lake?

Nope, many trails that are open to pack animals are closed to mountain bikes, as are all trails in wilderness areas. I checked the Wenatchee NF website, and it looks like the upper end of the north side lake shore is within the Lake Chelan-Sawtooth wilderness. The map isn't very good, though, so I couldn't tell whether or not the lakeshore trail itself is in the wilderness area. If it is, it will be closed to bikes.

Good luck with your planning, that's a beautiful area!

Guess that must just apply to city/county park trails only. Might just have to jump on the lady of the lake at Prince Creek or wherever the end of the road is these days and sail on up to stehekin and take the road up from there.
