Foo - New big production movie mistakes.

As stated in another thread, I like "The Gladiator" with Russel Crowe but, I got to thinking, does it have mistakes that made it to the big screen?

For instance, any jet trails or car tracks that have been caught.

What other big production mega hits have you caught making the foo-paw. :)

Oh, and none of those lame old saws like the man in the woods from Wizard of Oz. Keep it fresh.

One I recall hearing about (didn't notice it myself...which is odd because I'm usually very observant, especially in movies) was in Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring.

In the movie version there was a scene where they were doing a big scenery shot of many of the mountains from an "eagle eye" POV. There was supposedly a SUV driving on one of the mountains in that shot. They edited it out for the DVD version though.

In the movie Arachnophobia there is a scene where they inject a mouse with spider venom and place it in a jar. The actors watch expectantly. You can see a hand reach up from below and remove the jar. Can't imagine how that got through the editing process.

Given how movies are filmed these days, it's almost downright impossible not to have any continuity mistakes between scenes. Almost every if not all movies I've watched had continuity mistakes.

I don't purposely set out to find it, but it's quite noticeable when watching.

It's a while ago....the movie Jack (mid 90s) with Robin Williams. He is talking to a lady and when the scene is on him he's wearing a red shirt. Then it goes to lady he's talking to....then back to Jack again. Now he's wearing an (identical style) green shirt. Transitions to lady and back again and he's in the red shirt again.

I remember that....it was actually intentional, according to Williams.

Oh man....don't even get me started about Pearl Harbor. Too late. I can't resist:

Like after all the money they spent on CGI, they still had the Japanese bombing ASW destroyers built in the 70's. Or how they botched up something as simple as the color of their CGI airplanes (naval zeroes were grey, the ones in the movie were green). Granted, that one seems pretty small, but if you're computer animating it and you supposedly hired technical experts that one should be a gimme. They also had them taking off of post-war, American aircraft carriers.

And how about how the way two hungover pricks, snuggling up together on the other side of the island from their base, take off late and still manage to shoot down by themselves more planes than US aircraft actually killed on that day (10 actual air-to-air kills, I think I counted 11 in the movie). And then Bruckheimer goes on to make up some fantasy about them being in the Doolittle Raid (which he was especially careful to butcher factually). Forget about the actual crewmen who actually did all this stuff.

Several of the aircraft types changed from cut to cut of the same sequence.

The Japanese mock-ups of the harbor show no carriers, even though they fully expected them to be there.

The lead girl is supposed to be 6 months pregnant and not showing at all. Maybe if she weighed more than a buck, five I'd believe it.

Some other people pointed out some more forgiveable goofs, like the Arizona memorial was visible in the background of a couple shots, the camera crew was visible reflected in a chrome car bumper, and the girl was wearing a bikini for one scene even though bikini's weren't created until 1946.

Usually I can ignore or quietly chuckle at factual errors or production mistakes. In Pearl Harbor it was simply maddening the way they misrepresented major historical events and botched up the easy stuff.
