If so how much of a deal we talking about here? 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%. Just asking before i drive from St. Thomas. Only 2 hours away so it's not that far. Thanks.

I've been to it a couple of times but it's not really a huge discount bazaar. It seems to be more of an industry/info type of show. I wouldn't make the drive in just for that.

Hi danomac, I don't find that the spring show has hugh deals that can't be had a your LBS. The fall show has some terrific bargins but you have to know your prices and hope that they have what you are looking for. In the fall you need to go early and be prepared to buy when you have the chance as deeply discounted itewms will go fast.

Agreed - I used to flock to the show, but now don't even bother. There used to be a few deals on some things, old cheapo jerseys, etc. but I don't think if you were looking for something specific or wanted big deals I'd go.

It is a good time to walk around though and look at many different bikes all built up if you haven't made up your mind on a few models. Maybe your LBS doesn't carry Pinarello, Colnago or Cervelo and you'd love to check them out all in one place?!?

If you've never gone before, it might be interesting for you, but don't go just for the deals.

Thanks guys for all your info. Helps out..

I managed to get some pretty good deals on jerseys and shorts last year, but you really have to go the first day since there's not as many good deals, and the cheap stuff sells out quickly.

If only to look at all the pretty bikes it's probably worth going to :) I'm still trying to decide if I'm going this year or not.

Hey Sweep. I am heading up Saturday. I am hoping that Joe is going too, and I know my brother is going with me. If you can manage to switch days, we could maybe carpool. If not its cool, but I have been trying to find someone to fill the empy seat in my car for the trip...

I'm just going to go and drool. I absolutely totally promise myself I will not buy a bike.

I've gone every year for the last 8 or 9 years and have found deals every single year out. I actually bought my first road bike there. Are the deals fantastic?? some yes, some no. Most of the time I'm sure I could get as good or better prices on ebay or from Probikekit, but then I wouldn't have the fun of tearing around from shop to shop comparing prices. I usually go with a list and see what I can find.

The show isn't as good as what it use to be, in that there are less manufacturer's there these days. You don't get to see all the latest and greatest gadgets like you use to, but with that said it's still fun for me.

Honestly I think of as the start of biking season! It's the first step!

sweep242

Ya it’s not based around the latest & greatest stuff from manufactures but a bit more of the local shops selling stuff witch is good.

Going to spend the day on Sunday hope all the regular stuff is happing bmx, unicycle, Ryan leech, racing, flatland demo stuff.
7 doller pizza pizza slices!

I am I am I am!!!! And visit a good friend as well from another Bike Forum!

Made the mistake of going to it a few years ago and - we went shopping  the day before and I walked into that 150 or so vendor place with a whopping $40 in my pocket - and immediately found a jacket I wanted for $60.

Needless to say ... I was rather disappointed.

In fact I'm getting up there Friday night versus afternoon to discourage any shopping activity (have to go meet my friend at her workplace which right across from the Eaton Ctr. No Bad!!

Just going on Saturday though - can't wait!

Shopping for road/mtb tires - and clothing deals. But if some reasonable wheels roll toward me ... I'll manage to take them on the bus back home as well, somehow!

Came back a couple of hours ago. It wasn't too bad but it's not something that I will make a habit of going to. That $13 admission price is really becoming pretty steep!

For those of you taking TTC; you can take the Bathurst streetcar down to Front(?) (better yet, ask the driver) and he will drop u off to where you can take the 509 Exhibition bus. Alternatively, you can probably get the 509 from Union Station. There is no longer streetcar service directly to Exhibition Place because of construction work.

Thi is uber uber uber last minute but anyone planning on a BF meet up at the show? I may show up Sat or Sun pending how the snow comes. The weather report said the snow is supposed to be coming down very heavy with 60kph winds by Sat. afternoon with ~10-15cm snow. :(

I have been to both the Spring and Fall shows before. The fall show is $5 cover and lots of nice deals on summer gear. I got 3 Fox jerseys for $90 bucks. Two racefit and one 3/4 length arm. I forgot the pricings but it came out to US pricings if I recall right while everywhere else locally was ~$50 CDN range and I did not have to wait for shipping if I bought it online.

Hey, good idea... but I went yesterday evening. You can see my goodies in the commuting forum. It would have been nice to have had a BF meet-up as I was wandering on my own last night. Anyhow, maybe in the fall.

Cheers

Any good deals on winter jackets? I'm looking more for winter gear myself and a NYFU lock. Would like to get a thermo winter jacket, 1-2 thermo jerseys, and a NYFU if possible for $200 or less.

Holy crap. Did you all go? I was not braving the weather from St Catharines to Toronto...but so so sad that I missed it - regardless of deals. I was going more for centralized information. Guess there's always next year.....

I don't think I'd be going from St. Catherines no matter what kind of weather it might be. I'm from Richmond Hill, I was thinking of going but then the time to get there, $10 or so on transporation, and $13 for admission made me change my mind. I go to the ski show regurarly and by the sounds of it the bike show is very similiar... that is it's mostly stores selling stuff and various others promoting whatever they have to offer... my view when it comes to things like that is it should be free or at least significantly less than what they charge now. I'm not cheap, but paying $13 for someone to sell me stuff doesn't sound right to me.

Didn’t make it! so much snow, but we tried got stuck twice before hitting the 401 & it was just to crazy so we got off at the first exit and came home & did a lot of shoveling!

Spending a bunch of money to have the opportunity to spend more is wacky but there are some cool events & stuff going on.

Next year.

Bail King

I went on sunday.. the 401 was crap until I got out of K town and after that it was great... I bought somw small stuff.. I was really looking for a good deal on shorts, but the only ones I could find in my size that I would actually wear we $150.. I can get them cheaper at retail prices and get what I want rather than some random shorts...

Bought a trail building book and membership from IMBA, got a hoodie, and a slice of $7 pizza... It was fun! haha
