What type of derailleur?
I have done this on a Campagnolo FD. The clamp was removed and the braze-on adapter was put in its place. This was not originally a braze-on FD.

It depends on the derailleur. If you can't see a way to remove the clamp by loosening 1 bolt the answer is no.
