After PBP I think my body just decided that this was not for me.I have had absolutely no desire to do something like that again. However now I got a bit of the old enthusiasm by watching the 2007 PBP DVD and looking at my times at the various controls. Next year is London Edinburgh London and maybe a long bikeride in Great Britain is just the thing for next summer.
The lower average speed and shorter daily distances allows more sleep on LEL. Several people do a 'daylight only' LEL.
I watched my DVD a couple of nights ago. I enjoyed it, especially all these people being interviewed in the begining and saying they were doing it "for fun" but looking extremely serious... It was pretty dramatic though.
ronsmithjunior, was it you being interviewed in Sizun I believe?

Why yes, that was me. :D This is the pic from my camera:

It wasn't until after the ride did I notice the other rider taking a pic of us. After the guy, with the video camera, filmed me taking a pic of him, he walked up and interviewed me for a while. Gee, I look and sound tired. :)
I liked the DVD. Now I can't wait to do it again.

My loot just showed up on Tuesday. Very, very cool. The Octopus makes a cameo appearance at Villaines, pointing the tandem couple (friends of mine) toward Paris after their interview. They were so stoked, apparently, they wanted to ride back toward Brest!
I have to say, though, that there's a lot more dry pavement and sun in that video than I recall from the ride. Other than a half-day riding Sizun-Brest-Sizun (where the wet was replaced by wind), I remember a lot more "wet" than made it into the video!
Definitely looking forward to a return to Europe for LEL in '09!
