Just got a call from Master Card, seems someone has charged a trip to Germany, $20K to Harvard (I got into Brown, not Harvard), and $500+ to iTunes and other music sites.

Think I just put the kebosh on some sophomore's year abroad.

Man.....first the car and now this?!??!??

What did you do a few years ago to cause this kind of bad kharma, man?

You shouldn't have to pay for it, right?

You're only responsible for $50 if your credit card is used criminally by someone else.
Don't let them tell you otherwise. If they are particularly stubborn,
you might have to have a lawyer tell them that.

After going through that three times, let me introduce you to my new best friend. http://www.equifax.com/home/

No more bad issues for me.

KT,
I wonder if I did not have a receipt or something with my CC info in my car.

Master Card called me to inform that there was strange traffic on my account, they are waving all the fees.

I think the only obvious solution here is to make sure your credit rating stays < FAIL!

It seems to have worked wonders for me at least.. My days of worrying about predatory lenders singling me out and getting the better of me are over -- truly a thing of the past.

I'm just awestruck that someone gave Harvard (obviously a student) that much money and thought they would get away with. I mean I would expect something more from someone going here to my little 2 year school, but Harvard?

...but what to do with all the Apple CorpsTM afterwards?

That is a seedy question.

I know.
It was submitted twice even.
They must have lost their "my family has more money than I have sense" scholarship.

I was a bartender for a decade. Payback for all the "school supplies" I handed over the counter I guess.

Yeah, but that should been cancelled out by last week  .

Allen, I'm going to think extremely positive thoughts. Although, I have to keep some for myself, as I'm struggling to get those tyres on the rims. I know I can do it, though. I may need help from Mr. East Hill...:o .

Good thing it wasn't a debit card or you'd have a hard time paying your rent/mortgage next time.

There would be some sorely disappointed crooks if it was my debit card.

Trip to Germany would have been more of a trip to the Quickie Mart.
Half a $K of music would be a couple of movie rentals.
And the Harvard tuition would be an abject lesson in futility.

EH,
How are the tires working out? They gonna do it or is it looking more like new rims?

A couple of years ago someone stold my Amex number from a motel I stayed at in St Louis. That was the only time I had used the card for months so I know that was it. They charged 1000's. I called AMex told them about it expecting the worse. They said OKay, what was the purchase you made. I told them only the motel, they sent me a new card and I never heard another word. Simply no problem.

I am still trying to get the tyres on the rims :p .

I almost had the first one on there today. If I manage to get the tyres on, they are NOT EVER going to 'fall off' :D .

I think I am going to have Mr. East Hill assist me (my Valentine's Day present :) ).

The bike is looking great, although I will have to change the hoods and handlebar tape.

Well if you're in good standing with your CC company, they'll usually bend over backwards to keep you happy. :)

It's happened to me twice (nothing nearly as big, only $1-2k in fradulent charges) and both times they were cleared.
