JD, to be fair, the trails should be in So Cal.
I've heard of some of these, but never ridden them.. so....
I'll think about it and choose one

I chose COAL BASIN.
Never heard of it, but it's the 6th one, and that's my lucky number!

Why did you post this in SoCal?

I bet some skiers from SoCal have been to CO to ski.

In that vein, some SoCal mountain bike enthusiasts may have been to the Western Slope to ride their mountain bike.

My favorite MTB trail in NC is Black Mountain in the Pisgah National Forest.

My favorite MTB trail in Oregon is the MacKenzie River Trail East of Eugene.

My favorite MTB trail in AZ is Damfino in Sedona.

My Favorite MTB train in VA is the Mt Rogers Trail in the NRA of the same name.

My favorite MTB Trail in Utah is the Cassidy Trail near Panguitch.

My favorite MTB trail in NV is Boneshaker near Lost Wages.

etc...

I'm only an enthusiast.

I voted for rollerblading/skateboarding (full Campy) on Little Wing while wearing Assos in sub-30-degree temps. This involved riding my hybrid/cruiser from CA to CO in my longest one-day mileage ever. But for a professional cyclist such as myself, it was no big thing. Really.

Little Wing!

Jimi Hendrix or Stevie Ray Vaughan?

Hey, no fair starting nested polls, alice.

Both versions are aces, but I'm going with Hendrix.

You get around!
Very nice!
To have the time and funds for such things....
One of the biggest problems often is finding good trails at many locations.
Skiing areas have a financial incentive to make sure you hit the best runs...

There are very few similar areas for Mtb'ing. As folks just ride, and seldom pay more than
parking, if that, there are no financial incentive for locals to make trails known. In fact,
many bikers do their best to keep good areas from being well known.
Some of the better trails have been found just by talking to locals while on a trail. And then
some true gems are found.

CritEastwood, I'd like to hit a good area in SoCal. Could you PM me with the location
of a trail within a 1-2 hour drive of OC you'd recommend?
I am ready for new experiences!

Good call, Oops. One reference when that particular trail was named was the person who originally scouted the area being a big fan of Jimi Hendrix. An eaglet nesting on a nearby cliff was the other inspiration.

Well, alice skewed the results by omitting Skid Row's version from the lineup.
