Road Bike Racing - Anyone in California want to ride??

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

As some of you know, I will be in California for a week in March. I fly from NJ on March 3rd, and so would be able to ride March 4, 5, and 6 in/around LA (Staying in Bev Hills). I have a few good scenic climbing routes that have been given to me, and I was curious if anyone wanted to tag along/show me around. I would want to do early (ish) rides if possible (ending by 10 or 11) and was curious - any takers?
After that, I will be in San Fran (Downtown) from the 7-10th. Probably not riding the 10th because I will have packed the bike by then, but same thing for that. Anyone want to ride?

Those being work days, you could join me on my 5:45am commute and be back in Beverly Hills by 10 easily :D. But seriously, you should post this in the regional forums for So Cal and Nor Cal.
You can come down to OC and do a couple of hours of mind numbing hill repeats with me on Monday or Tuesday. It's only scenic on the way down when you have an awesome ocean view.

Wouldn't riding with Dr. W. be like boxing with this guy?

Pcad, you really need to get a better webhost.

This is related to your lame browser not 'my webhost'. That image has nothing whatsoever to do with my web host. Image grabbed off web. Looks fine on my browser. 99% of the random images here are grabbed off random web hosts. The only time it's a consistent host is when I'm linking to my own Photobucket account. You do understand how that works, right? Doesn't sound like it.
You guys aren't seeing the Tyson shot? This happened once before. I'm the one on the oddball browser (Safari/Mac). How come it works on my computer and not on (presumably) some Windows machines? Strange.

The problem is that you linked to someone else's image. They probably check the referrer and only allow internal links. It only works for you because you already visited it "correctly" and already have the image in your cache...

its not a problem on your end or our's. tripod.com never allows hotlinking of their images.

Thanks, noted. That's very odd, the image is hotlinking on my browser perfectly. How is that?

As I said above, you already have it cached on your end...

Pcad doesn't pay cache. Amex and Visa only.

Not asking to race anyone, just trying to get some training in. Thats why I did not post on the other fora. Need people to ride with who understand training for racing.

You need to ride with Team Astana. Perhaps they'll have a training camp around that time.

I may be able to join you on the morning or evening of the 7th, or the morning of the 8th.
I'm doing the Berkeley 2 man TT on the 9th.
Do you like hills?:D
You could also come out to the El Dorado Twilight Series on Tuesday night. It's the first one of the season.

Well, hello again. I already checked the racing calendar, and it looks like I will be missing out, but, I would not mind riding with any BFers if you can join me. I will be in LA (Bev Hills) later Monday, March 9, 2009 and will fly out Friday afternoon (March 13, 2009) to SF. I will then leave SF on Sunday, March 15.
I think that Icould get rides in on Tue, Wed, Thurs, with the possibility of Friday in both places. Saturday morning would be my chance to ride in SF, then it will be "pack the bike" for departure on sunday (or maybe a short sunday morning ride).
I will be working daily at around 11am, so I need to be 'home' by then. However, I am willing to do any length ride before that time (1-5 hours). In addition, I will be able to do some afternoon riding as well, and am going to bring both a headlamp and a blinkie in case I get caught out late. Anyone want to get together and ride? As always, just try not to beat me up too badly.
Who is in?

I live in SF and am down ride with ya (probably Marin? That's where the nice roads all are), but all I've got is sucky Cat 5 power. :(
Too bad you are only going to be in the LA and SF areas and not in the middle :|

Marin is accross the bridge, right? Sounds like fun if you are interested. Not worried about the power if you know how to draft. :-)

Rats. I'm leaving for parts south on the 12th.
Guess next time I visit my sister in Moorestown I'll have to bring my bike and drive north.
Have fun!

Yep, that's Marin. Drafting I'm good at. We could probably meet up at the south end of the bridge (at the parking lot / lookout point then head north from there. There are a couple loops I can think of depending on how long / how many hills you want to do. Anybody else in?

not sure if the rose bowl is rolling yet, but with daylight savings time starting this week it should. might be a little smaller than usual.
there's also the encino and adt velodromes. if you've never ridden the track you'll probably want to start at encino.
i'm not sure what my schedule will be like, but i'll see if there's a day i can ride in the morning

The bummer is, due to "budget cutbacks" I couldn't get the transport for my bike. So, I packed my SRM in a suitcase and now need to locate somewhere where I can 'rent' or 'demo' a bike and just toss my SRM on. Does anyone here know of a bike shop (I need one in both Las Angeles/Beverly Hills and San Francisco) where I would be able to rent or demo a decent road bike? The way I look at it, I would have paid about $300 in flight fees for the bike, so I am willing to be in that ballpark to find a bike. Anyone have an old beater in a 54-56 that I can borrow? Just looking for a way to avoid riding for hours in the local gym. Thanks for any help. Feel free to email ODonnellChiro at Cs.com because I don't know how much BF access I will have. Thanks. And still willing to ride with anyone out here!!
