I am up in the air between the Shimano R540s or to custom build some rims from Excel Sports. I wanted to go w/ the CXP-33 w/ Dura Ace Hubs and Oval spokes. Could someone give me their opinion(s)? Any and all input is helpful.

Go with the Mavic and Dura Ace combo. If they are built well, you won't be breakin any spokes for awhile. I would go with black rims and black DT spokes. You'll get that cool blacked out look, and you lnow what that does for your avg. speed!!!

I got the excel sports "cirrus" wheelset (32 hole Open Pros laced 3x to Dura ace hubs w/ DT revolutions) from excel, and I couldn't be happier. it is mad light and the dura ace hubs on it spin forever. 5 stars.

what you got for wheels on that Masi?
The CXP33 rims are stiff, I have them and wonder if on an Alu frame the ride might not be harsh. The OPs Phatman suggested might be something for you, but I don't understand why you are swapping them out so soon

Also, look at the American Classic CR420 with DT Aero Bladed spokes. You will reduce the spoke count and fly on these super sweet wheels for less money than Mavics.

As of now I have Mavic Cosmos. I just want a different look to what I have now.
