Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. anuyone rond here do night riding?Which lamps do you use
If either of the afore mentioned please provide some insight on these lamps units.
I am looking to get a better set of lamps for my MTB. ABS 30's just not bright enough and burn time is insufficient.
I ordered these for myself. Should be at my door on Wednesday.

I do, but the set of lights I have are about 7 years old, and are old technology. I've been wanting to buy a new H.I.D. system, but can't justify the expense yet! My system uses the old alkaline (or whatever they are) BIG rechargeable water bottle batteries. The bulb is only like 10W, and burn time was about 2.5 - 3 hrs., but is now only like 1.5, so I have to carry an extra battery (heavy) with me. Plus, the recharge time is a full 12 hrs., so I really have to plan ahead for night rides.
Let us know what system you get. That Jet lites is pretty nice. I've been looking at a Light & Motion H.I.D. The thing I don't like is that you have to decide between a helmet mount or a handlebar mount. I like to switch back and forth depending on wheter I'm riding trails or the road. Any idea who makes a system that utilizes both mounts in one system?

I should be test riding both sets on Wednesday

if you have about $50 and are mechanically inclined with some free time on yer hands, here's something you might enjoy.

hmmmm,
I'm off to B&Q to get me a Maglite too take apart.
That will make a perfect helmet lamp.
Needs a smaller battery though.
Regarding the L&M ARC. I have gotten a local Bike shop here to agree to sell them to me for $300/kit if I can find 5+ buyers. Woudl anyone be interested in one at that price? I have 3 sold and about 20 emails out to locals but just found out tonight and figured I woudl pass along the good fortune.

I would join in your quest but Iam in the UK. Import duty would kill any saving i made.
Also How would I pay you?
Hard to charge duties on "warranty items" with no value :)
Paypal is the best way that comes to mind. Aside form that you got me. I don't have quite the reputation around here as I do on my Honda Auto Forums but my main goal is a good deal for me and to help others at the same time.

Is that system the new one with both mounting options or a left over with one choice?
If both, I may be interested.

To my knowledge the new system. They will be shipping from L&M to the shop once we order and they are not picking up old system to clear out so as far as I am aware on the new systems are available.
I plan to try and order them tomorrow afternoon BTW. We don't have to pay until they arrive at the shop and you should be able to call a credit card in to pay for it (As not to have to give your money to this stranger). I will see what sort of arrangements coudl be made.

The NiteRider Storm H.I.D. works great for me. Equivalalent to 40W halogen for 4hrs is perfect. My friends follow me when it comes to sketchy downhills even with their halogen lights on. Of course, my set up is pretty pricey, but got a good deal on eBay.
NiteRider Storm was my second choice but for the price of a new L&M from a shop I can't say no.
HID in general is pricey but if you have used HID at all (I have them on my car) you knwo the difference.
Trey,
if you supply the shop name and number i could call my credit card number in
But you'd have to ship to UK.
How much extra would that be and be sure it's a "warranty" replacement :-)
If it could work that way, I'd be very interested.
oh PS:
Which v=charger is supplied with the system?
The fast smart or the normal charger.
Big difference in price between them.
More info please
Tim, Costs no more to ship either way. Warranty replacement just denotes a zero value to customs. ALl you woudl owe me is the shipping costs through UPS after I sent it to you.
We ordered this afternoon so if this is something you are interestede in email me at trey@itrca.com. IF I can add one more to the order I will be happy to help.

I ride with a Nightrider Halogen setup right now, a 20 and 10w light.. but with the price of HID dropping, it makes more sense to go HID right away! Once you add the cost of batteries and whatnot to a standard halogen system, HID makes so much more sense! It's one of those things where it seems expensive, but if you race or ride enough at night, you'll end up getting them anyway.. might as well get them at the start!

Is the offer on the L&M ARC's still open?
