Pedalite pedals

Until very recently I had some of these on my commuter bike. I had a lot of fellow commuters comment to me that they were very visible - they wanted to know what they were, who made them, where to buy them... In use you can just notice a slight resistance in the pedals, especially if you're wearing thin-soled shoes.

The pedals actually came on the Pashley/Moulton TSR my wife bought last year, but she didn't want them as they seemed a little out of place on that bike ;)

Sadly, one of the pedals backed itself out last weekend. By the time I noticed, I had been riding hard on it and the threads were damaged beyond repair. There's one odd thing with the Pedalites, and that is they don't come with spanner flats on the spindle - only a hole for an allen key on the inside. So getting the ruined pedal off involved copious amounts of WD40 and swearing :(

I have had pedalites on my GoBike & my Strida 3 for a few years now. I had one fail which I sent back & was replaced with no problem. But now both have failed on my GoBike.
When they did work, they definitely attracted a lot of attention.
I think I prefer the Reelights though.

They look very nice but quite pricey at 60 u.s dollars.I was able to pick up a pair similiar in function for my ss coaster brake cruiser for 2 dollars at an odd lots store.I might be willing to pay 15 or 20 dollars but 60 is insane.

I live downtown and see lots of bike commuters roaming around in the dark winter afternoons. One of the most visible accessories [from the rear particularly] is a pair of reflective ankle bands. They cost less than $10 and the pedaling motion makes them really stand out at night when driving or even in the light from a front bike light.
