I am going to buy a used 2002 Litespeed bike. I have read here and other places about infrequent cracking issues. Can you tell me exactly where to inspect the frame for issues?

Inspect the bottom bracket shell welds. The most common (and infrequent) failure is the where the chainstays are welded to the bb shell.
BTW, I have 70,000 miles on a '96 Catalyst frame with no failures of any kind.
