I went to the LBS yesterday and dropped $400 on my new $700 bike. I should pick it up the beginning of next month.

This morning I stripped off my 'extras' such as lights, rear rack, from my Specialized Crossroads and brought them down to the LBS to be installed on the new Trek 7.5 FX. I can't recall this bike being this naked when I brought it home. It looks like a skeleton.

When I took the cyclometer off I decided to buy a new one. One that would do HR and cadence wirelessly and on a trainer. These 2 features to me are the most important and wireless is cleaner, less clutter. Folks at the bike shop said if you could wait a while, there's a special coming so you could save $50 on the cyclometer. Works for me.

They have a tent sale soon, when the fever hits, which is when I was going to sell my latter bike. Now I'm thinking 'not that I have the room' to keep the Specialized just to keep on the trainer.

I really don't have the room but do you folks think it's a good idea to keep one to ride and one for the trainer? I can manage it if I have to.

If it means you'll be more likely to ride instead of the, "I don't feel like swapping tires/hooking up the bike to the trainer because I only have 30 mins" then it's a great idea.

Thanks Air

It's that I really don't want to wear the tires out on my 'fitness' bike when I can beat the crap out of my 'leisure' bike. I suppose I know the answer but just would like feeback from folks that have been there.

Never hurts to have a spare bike ;) I have 3 ridable and 1 in parts in the shed ;)

No trainer. I need to feel the movement when I ride.

I'd keep it unless you really don't have the space. I have one bike set up with fenders for when it's wet. The other I leave on the trainer. I recently bought a new set of wheels, so I have a tire made specifically for the trainer on the old wheel (it slips less and is supposed to last longer than regular tires.)

I agree with Air, you're more likely to ride the trainer if it's already set up.
