Road Bike Racing - First race today

I decided to race the cat 4/5 race instead of the cat 5 beginner race. A short, 20 mile flat road race. Got a little squirly after the guy in front of me almost ate it going around one gravely corner, and then slid a bit going around that same corner the next time around. I felt ok at the end of the race, passed a few people in the sprint at the end, and ended up getting 6th (out of about 15 or 16.) I was gaining on the leaders in the sprint too, not just the people I passed. Unfortunately I got myself out of position for the final sprint because I went around a corner too slow which led into the final sprint. Overall I thought it was a successful first race, our first college race is next weekend.

Hmmmmm...........20 miles, gravel corners.

You must've raced Frosty Toes. There was abig pile up there last year on the 4th turn/last lap.

Sounds like you did pretty well though! Good luck on your next race and remember to hold that position at all costs.

I was the old guy in the yellow jacket who chatted with you during the race and after. You did a great job. Keep it up.

Congratulations on the finish, sounds like you had a great first race. I was the guy there on the black Fuji with Zipps.

Congrats, seems like you did a little better than me in the first race of the season down in mentor - i went OTB with cramps pretty early, tried to catch back on, failed miserably and got a good feel for road racing.

Wow, I didn't realize there were some many of you guys there. I should've made a post beforehand to see if anybody was there. Anyway good meeting you guys, I don't know how many races other than the college races I'll be at, but we'll see.

edit: Yeah, I just noticed the thread about this race and now I remember reading it earlier. I guess I forgot about it; I only decided I was going to go to the race last night when I found out that some of the other guys from my team were going.
