Monday weigh-in ... finally 199.0 came at my regular benchmark hydration level. (I don't count my readings under 51.5%, which is generally a threshold below which I know I am dehydrated.)

I got down to 196 in the summer from 219 and didn't claim emeritus at the time. Maybe that was a mistake. It kind of coincided with an injury: I quickly balooned back to 203 after herniating two neck discs -- three months off the bike, including two months without any exercise except walking.

The last 3 months, I've been getting back to the gym, weights, treadmill, and doing a little swimming and a little running, but have plateaued at 201-202 during that time. To bust the plateau concentration has been on building more muscle and more resistance exercise to make the fat-burning machine more active.

Two successive days of salad for lunch -- that's the great thing about weekends -- and my first bike ride since December 8, (also the first ride neck/armshoulder pain free!) seem to have tipped the scales in my favor.

OK, not taking a second helping of mashed potatoes string beans and meat loaf last night also helped. I provide that detail for other folk who follow who like me have an exceptionally hard time resisting seconds of meatloaf and mash. It can be done. (Now I gotta see if I can do it twice.)

One day of sub-clyde doesn't a non-clyde make, and I'm tempted to say, I'll "try," harder to stay emeritus, but given how I slid back the last time, I think I need stronger mental language.

So, onward to the goal, 183 and 18% bodyfat (currently about 25-26%).

Um, I think gaining 7 lbs after a serious neck injury is excusable. Seriously. Oh and congrats.

GREAT JOB!!!!

I will be there in 10 more weeks. OK, that is my goal.

Man, 199 seems like a pipe dream to me...but I'm going to get to it. That's about 146lbs from current. I know I can do it...I've found a new motivation lately (nothing specifically to be motivated about, I just find that I happen to be more motivated).

199 will be a day of celebration for me ... but no cake. :)

Hey glad to see your thread. I'm off the bike and weights was diagnosed with cancer in sept. Been doing surgery and chemo since. But the prognosis is good. I should be back in the game in may. I was a solid 200 but am quickly going up from steroid injections with chemo. If I could only lift I see visions of Hulk. I just bought a Jamis quest from Lbs and can't wait to ride. So hang strong you'll be o.k...........

Congratulations Tom! You truly are an inspiration and a font of knowledge from all your posts.

I got close to 200 last year (got down to 202 so close yet so far!) and then slipped back. Now I'm more determined this year.

Congrats!

(I'm at 202 and change this morning, and I haven't started riding yet this year!)

Hey thanks much all. It's just great to see so many of us plugging away at it out there, whether currently in good health or not, somehow we all seem to find a way. Good luck to all of you who are on the path ... and the bike path.

Thplmn72 ... I am rooting for you. Enjoy that Jamis Quest, that is a trooly droolworthy steel ride fit for a clyde.

Rjm1982 ... intermediate goals are a wonderful thing. Bit by bit it comes off. Sometimes there are plateaus and a strategy adjustment is needed. Coming back here to see how folk managed it, and to places like traineo.com, have helped me.

flip18436572 and Superdex, see you on the other side of 200 soon.

Mazama, I ain't disappearin' nowhere: "Once a clyde,..." as they say. But I won't be entering any races in the Clyde category, I promise, no sandbagging. I'll just be the heaviest guy in the regular category, doggone it.

Cheers, Viking, Tom and all...
