I am training for a SAG supported Fast South Cross America Ride in April. To do that we wintered in FL for two months. Part of the training was 70 miles in the AM followed by 30 miles in PM.
While doing that we were joined by two interesting people. Mel and Marlene from Davenport Iowa. He is 73 and she is 70.
We were pacing at 17 MPH average regardless of conditions because that is what the tour requires.
Remarkable is that Mel and Marlene kept up with us. Yes, they were drafting but it is still quite an accomplishment.
