Training & Nutrition - Hot Tub Y/N

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Howdy,
Do you hot tube after a training ride or race? What is the purpose of hot tubbing after a work out?
I do it because it seem to relaxes me a bit but I'm not sure I get any "fittness" effects.

The hot water of the hot tub may help relax your muscles ... same as a hot shower, a hot bath, or using a heating pad.
Howdy,
OOPS Tub Tube?!?! dang I hate my spell checker...

I do it on off days after stretching and light lifting to get the kinks out.
And nothing works better after a few hours out in 35 degree weather to warm you up again.
Ive learned from years of running that ice baths are very beneficial. They are good for cycling as well, but I just haven't tested it as much, personally.

Public hot tubs, nope :)
Gotta' agree. As much as I ADORE hot tubs, the only case of The Rots I ever had was as a result of using a public hot tub managed by drones. Add to that the expense, energy waste, and hassle of maintaining one privately and they're another of those things I regretfully bid adieu.

There really is minimal hassle to maintain a hot tub, but the expense and energy waste is still there. The better cover you buy the better it will insulate and keep the energy wastes down and also the cost. I saw about a $5.00 increase a month on the electrical bill, and no noticable change in my water bill.
I don't use it every day like I should, but it also depends upon the busy schedule and where it will fit in the day.
It is relaxing, but I don't know what the "health" benefits are, except for lower stress during that time.
Definitely. Sauna and hot tub are my secret weapons. Secret because nobody has ever asked me how I got so fast, mainly because I'm plain slow. ;)
