Hey,
I am visiting portland, OR for a few days (Feb. 26-Feb. 29) and the friend that I'm visiting will be gone most of the day and i wanted to explore the city on bike rather than foot/train/whatever else.
I was thinking of taking my bike apart and shipping it out there but then i thought about the wegith and shipping costs... etc. etc. and realized it would be not worth it for those 3 days. So my girlfriend came up with the great idea of "renting" a bike. I know it's not copenhagen, denmark in portland (with the rental bike system).. but the west coast def. seems to have an edge over the east coast when it comes to cool things of that sort. I don't have a fold up bike yet.... so my options are this;
1- The Truth- Find a bike shop that will "rent" me a bike for those 3 days. Dunno how the hell to do this.. but I guess I could try
2- The Walmart return- "Buy" A cheapo type bike on a credit card and then return it back all cleaned up and nice and tell them I didn't like it....
3- The pity way- Ask a cool Bikeforum person to help me out and rent a beater single speed 56cm bike to me for 3 days...
I am 5-11 and can ride anything from a 54-60cm bike (i'm not picky i promise). and i love the simple single speed monsters that are so cheap and easy to build nowadays.
thanks in advance for the advice and talk to you all soon!
