General Cycling Discussion - Every Second Counts

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I saw Lance's new book at Border's today for $17.50. I didn't pick it up, though. Has anyone read it, yet? How about a review.
For the record: I am a Lance fan. I read and liked It's Not About the Bike. The best bits of the book described his battle with cancer, and racing the TdF. I didn't think it was exceptionally well-written or the best book I've ever read.
I'd be particularly interested to know what the new book covers and what insights it offers.
Thanks.

Haven't bought it myself yet, but was reading this review at Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0385508719/qid=1065733612/sr=2-1/ref=sr_2_1/103-3422255-2041461) just a day or two ago. Looks interesting, but I'm not sure I can justify the 17 clams on it. Might get it out from the library...
I think Lance is great, but I think I'm going to hold off on buying the book for now. I may just buy it next summer as good reading in case I can't get OLN again and need my Lance fix. :D :D

I read it in one sitting. It is a good read, but more geared towards biking this time out. I loved reading it and would recommend it to anyone who loves to ride, but his first book was much better in my opinion with a great inspirational story to tell.
It was nice to see him actually mention Trek in this book. There was no mention of Trek in his first book, only a vague reference to him having ridden an "American made bike."
I say buy it, but wait until it is on the bestseller rack and you can get it at a reduced price. ;)
You can read a chapter of it on the Lance Armstrong
web site (if its still there), thats what I did.
Seemed good, well written (same author as before,
and no NOT LANCE!) don't know if it will have the same
impact as Its Not About the Bike. don't know if I could take another one of those.

OooOOoOoOoh I just remembered I have a $25 gift certificate for Barnes and Nobel. :D :D :D
My copy showed up in yesterday's mail. I've read about 1/2 of the book thus far. I like the fact that this book is geared more toward the racing aspect of Lance's life. Me likes so far! :)

It is a fast read.
I love the quote on page 53 "What makes a guy ride until he's out of his head? I guess because he can."
:D
