Hello all-

I was wondering, how stiff are the Gunnar line of road frames? I'm 6'4 and working my way down from 290lbs. Even in fighting trim, I'll never be much lighter than 250, and I wondered if these frames have a reputation as "whippy" or anything. I'm fond of the ride of steel, I just don't want the bottom bracket moving 2ft when I stand to go up hill. Thanks for any help.

I would think that the Gunnars would be a good choice, especially in terms of durability, but I don't have any first hand experience with them.

One of the problems is that I've never been to a store that had a Gunnar to test ride. Maybe someone else has ridden them?

My son and I ride Gunnar Sports. I'm about 300 lbs. now, and started at almost 325. I don't have a lot of experience with different frames, but the only way I can detect any flex in my Gunnar is to get the front derailleur cage as close as possible from the chain and pedal up a hill. The chain might touch the cage barely. I can't feel any flex. It flexes less than my Rivendell Atlantis and my Giant Sedona. It's a real nice bike if you ask me.

Their web site says; "Tubeset specifications vary by frame size to offer riders of all sizes the strength and stiffness they need."
