Based on a thread in Road I decided to check out BikeWire.net. Nice. I likey. I started a club in the region - based out of Elgin on their region list. I posted an album from the psimet invitational last fall, etc.

Ride entry is easy and it seems extremely well written. I;d like to see a few of you try it out. BFNIC'ers PM me about the club joining password, etc./..

I joined last night. Now I just need to accumulate some statistics.

Do trainer miles count? :)

Is winter ever going to end?

Haha. I was trying to log trainer time and ended up bringing the whole site's stats down because they make you enter mileage.

where is CyLowe when you need him?

NO. trainer miles do not count. when speaking of the trainer we speak in terms of hours. the miles do not count for you yearly total. this is BF Law. :D

Agreed, but their Java does not agree. "Miles is a required field...." I therefore removed all of the trainer sessions I was logging.

Of course trainer miles don't count. Mostly because I have eschewed the trainer to this point in the winter for the statistical comforts of the treadmill. Ergo, I have as many trainer miles in as anyone else on this board.

Send a password, Psimet.

Okay. I'm signed up and have decided to drop the 97 over there.

Waiting for bikewire enlightenment.

Seriously....That Cali group keeps nipping at our heels. Their weather be damned! Seriously when was the last time they had to put on arm warmers or toe covers? Mine was yesterday.

Me too -- full tights and long gloves last night. :(

Edit: Oh yeah, and the reasons for my reply . . . I joined . . . been a slow month, but it should help in the battle of supremacy . . . . muhahahahah!

Just what i need. Another site that my family can harass me about. The second they read www.bikeanything, they start giving me grief (their choice addictive sites are okay, of course). There needs to be one with a code name like "Betterparenting.com" and after you've logged in you get to cycling stuff.:p
But I'd like to contribute my paltry mileage to the cause, so send me the secret info in a PM.

aham23
05-29-08, 03:26 PM
i cant recal the password, but Psi will hook you all up. just remember you can add one entry for you year to date mileage. just dont do it for the current month. it messes up the leader board and peeps from Cali get mad. later.

Bikewire is a great site. Have logged in all my miles for the year so far. Paid more attention to the actual mph average for the last month. (my first 4 months are not as accurate)

Since i own a Garmin Vista HCX (not a real bike puter), I usually have the track log place a point every 3 seconds while riding. Once i'm home, i'll manually figure out my avg. mileage for the ride by opening the GPS to act as a hard drive, pick the most current date on the puter to open it up on mapsource and determine my riding segments and mark the time of each one segment of a logged track. Once done, i'll tally the seconds then tally the minutes then add them up to get a timing for each track. Then i'll add all the track times to get my total time of the ride. After that, i'll check the accruccy of the entire ride by opening google earth from mapsource. Once the track looks good to me, i'll close mapsource and open up EasyGPS to get the total miles. Then i'll go to the Bikewire site and enter the date, time ride started, time, distance and description (if i want) and accept it and it'll show on the statbook.

After that, i'll go into the mileage log site on the LIB (League of Illinois Bicyclists) site to enter my distance.

Don't think that wasn't the master plan all along!

It's like that one time I was leading the average miles per hour based on one early May ride. I'm a speed merchant! Needless to say that didn't last after my second ride got reported.

MotionBased can't handle the insane numbers you two put up over the weekend. You've fried their server.

If you added me to your club, would you get credit for all of my July miles so far? I've got 120 right now with 65 more planned tomorrow and a century next weekend. Let me know if I can join...

You're set up to not receive PM's from BikeForums. In order to "join" BFNIC on bikewire you simply need the password. I have the password, but can not send it to you. You need to either send me a PM here or on Bikewire.

One ride does not a leaderboard make....

I haven't entered a few that would probably drop me out. Maybe I'll enter them later this week....
