Northern California - Extremely crappy pictures of Stage 2

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

These are the worst pictures I've ever taken. My son must have turned off the image stabilizer or something. Squint and they look ok... Apologies.

Here they come! Making the turn off of Capitol Mall to the final 3 laps around the State Capitol.

The only 1/2-way decent shot of the bunch. It shows the speed in relation to the static audience.

Coming down 9th street on the first lap.

And off they go to the finish. I ran back to the extremely crowded finish line to see Tornado bust out on the jumbotron that was just beyond the finish line and ended up staying there rather than seeing nothing amidst the crowd. Spectators immediately dispersed after the finish and I was just a couple of feet from Boonen riding back to the podium but my camera battery was about dead and it wouldn't fire dagnabbit! Anyways. It was a nice way to spend a couple of hours away from work. I really wanted to ride there and ride home but nature made other plans. I don't know about you guys but I was getting used to 65 and sunny. :o

Nice! My father in law was at that spot too. Tonight I'll see what pictures he got.

I think you just need to adjust your shutter speed. Is it just "point and shoot" or do you have some f adjustment on that camera?

Redtires hit it on the head. From the EXIF data, all your shots were taken at 1/30th of a second. Definitely not fast enough to stop the action of those guys in motion so it's most likely motion blur.
