Is it possible to mount a front derailleur with a 1 1/4" clamp onto a 1 1/8" seat tube utilizing some sort of a shim??? It's a 10 yr old (but new) Shimano LX M-565, bottom swing, bottom pull derailleur. I'm transferring an entire groupo onto another frame. Thanks.

Almost certainly, you might have trouble with slippage
unless this was thought out. Shim should probably be slightly compressible, maybe soft aluminum- just guessing as to material. It is worth a try. Steve

I did something like that on my mountain bike, but I used duct tape. I put several layers of duct tape on the inside of the derailer clamp and clamped down on it, the duct tape compressed nicely and it didnt damage the paint job or slip.

Branford Bike has a shim for this exact puropose. I would assume your LBS should be able to get it as well. It is made of hard ABS plastic or nylon or something like that.

I found those shims at my LBS this morning.....cheap...cheap... It's a Shimano product.
