Anyone have any info on it? I'm planning to head out from San Jose early a.m. and try to find a spot on the climb in Big Sur. Just trying to figure out exactly how early I need to roll. Any info appreciated.

I was going to SLO, but if there is a spot on Big Sur, I might be up for that too.

Yeah according to the Stage Profile there's a decent climb right there in Big Sur. I haven't been out that way in a while but I think I know where they're talking about. What I really don't know is if it will even be possible to park along the road and maintain a spot. I'm taking my 6 year old daughter and even though she's an enthusiastic cyclist, I don't think we would be able to ride too far to catch a view.
I'm halfway considering going all the way to SLO but it's kind of a long haul only to turn around and come right back the same day :(

'nother, did you make it out there? It was miserable out there. I did make it to SLO, and waited and waited and waited ... They didn't get to SLO till 5 pm.
Here's the link to the pics:

Your pics capture the misery of the riders. Tuesday was nothing compared to what they did yesterday.
And that was some effort on your part, to go all the way to SLO and then back in the same day. We used to live in Lompoc -- still go back to visit friends -- and we almost always spend the night. It's a long drive.
Thanks for making the effort & sharing the pictures.

Thanks for the kudos. Actually, I didn't drive back. I drove to SLO, then stayed overnight in Santa Maria, and I'm on my way to Solvang. I'm following the tour all the way into Pasadena, my home town.

In fact, I did. It was fairly miserable; my daughter stayed inside our vehicle most of the time. We were positioned just south of Bixby Bridge, on a mild climb poking out into the wind ("Hurricane Point", for those in the know). I did not get any great shots of the riders, but here are a couple that did come out:
Double Rainbow, a couple of hours before they came through:

The main field passing by, about 15 sec. behind the break:

No problem. It was hard *not* to get a good shot of the rainbow(s). My main problem was dealing with my kid who wanted to go looking for the pot of gold :D
