I have noticed at times when I get out of the saddle to climb or do a slight mini sprint to get my pace back up I am way out of tempo. Any tips on where I should put my weight or what not?

Thanks
Chaz

Just as you start to rise out of the saddle, shift up 2 or three gears.

Then as start to sit down...down shift some.

it's natural to not be able to spin as fast when you're off the saddle as when you're sitting down... i find it helpful to pull up the handle bar that is opposite of the leg going down...

if you want to speed up, shift up 3 gears. But if you want to maintain your speed, you can do with 1 or 2 gears, depending on your gearing of course.

Normally, i maintain a 90-100rpm when sitting. But when i'm out of the saddle, my cadence drops to about 60-70rpm.

BTW, don't rock, from side to side, your bike so much.. Rocking is just an effect of you pulling the handlebars for leverage as you hammer.. as Mr. code monkey said -- it helps.
