Just looking for some opinions. I like both, have heard pretty good reviews for both. Like the fact that the Spicer is lugged and has a threaded fork, both things the Soma is lacking. Gene at Spicer said his frame has a 31 1/8" standover. I generally ride something in the 30"ish range. Should I go with the Spicer even though the standover might be a tad too high? Or go with a better fitting Rush? I know Spicer has other sizes available for their lugged framesets, but this one is on discount due to it being a sample. Thanks for your help!

Don't base fit off of standover height; it's significantly less important than top tube length (and really just about any other commonly used method of sizing bikes).

Personally, I would base the decision on fit and geometry, and not worry so much about lugged versus TIG welded. Both are good looking frames.
Also, +1 on the above post. You are better off judging size by top tube length, particularly when the frames have horizontal top tubes, which appears to be the case with both frames in question.

You'll end up a lot happier if you buy a bike that fits well, rather than buying a bike because it's on sale.
I'd grab the other measurements before I jumped the gun on either of them.
velocita, did you ask Gene what kind of tubing his lugged frames are made of?
I haven't ridden either of those bikes. Buying stuff on the internet is always a gamble. Gene Spicer is super easy to deal with. Send him an email if you need any info.
Could you stand over a 31 inch bike comfortably? Bikes that are too tall are a pain. What top tube length do you feel comfortable on?

thanks for the replies. i think i probably will just play it safe and go with the rush which probably would fit me more comfortably.
