Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Powdercoat / custom paint in San Francisco

I know this isn't purely fixie but I didn't see a 'paint' section, and I know you fixed gear heads love customizing your bikes ;) Forgive me if this I missed a better place for this thread.

Anyway, I'm wondering where I can get this done and how much it might cost. I'm just looking for a matte black or dark grey/blue job.

I read somewhere that Travis at Freewheel Hayes can handle outsourcing powder coating. It was like $200 total for a framset, but I think that includes disassembly & assembly. Not 100% sure though...

Contact info lists Livermore, not Alameda, but maybe they moved? $80 is perfect, $200 is a little steep...although the disassembly and assembly would save me a ton of time so I might actually go for that.

I've heard good things about Joe's out in Watson, and otherwise there's S & S Powder over by Costco. Not the best work, but he's the best way to get a bike powdered.

Hit up a couple garages. Any garage that works on cars and is worth its salt should be able to powder coat. Those prices seem steep. I know places I've talked to will do a frame for ~50, 100 if they have to sand blast it and prep it.

my boss told me about a place called poly engineering in richmond. he has taken a lot of car parts there in the past. they are expensive, but its a big place that can supposedly acid dip a whole car frame. i have two frames that I need dipped and coated, so i have been actively looking. i found a place called precision powdercoating (or something like that) in belmont, but i havent called them yet.

BR&F SPRAY in santa clara,..GREAT work,....media blast and powdercoat is very often under a hundred (you bring in a totally stripped frame) LOTS of colors, finishes, etc,...

I have seen a couple of joe's bikes and the work is top notch

Josh was working on your frame, he had cut most of the ht out.

What the hell happened to that thing? it looked pretty bad.

Turns out I bought it from Sam (Ped X) with a slight crack at the lower lug. As I rode it, it continued to spread until I could actually hear and see it moving. I think most of what you saw was Josh's doing, the repair involves cutting the front of the head lugs before cutting the actual tube. Good to hear he's started it, though.

And back on topic, I think I'm gonna have Joe's do the paint over the summer.
