I just got fitted for a pair today because after my wreck on friday I realized my nearsightedness was worse than I thought. Who else rides with glasses?

I have glasses. They are lost right now. It sucks.

edit: found them.

Me. I do everything in 'em though, ski, swim, all of it. Been hit twice with 'em on, but it was more of a veer in to me both times. Never fell off. They kind of make me nervous because I always get glass lenses so I don't **** 'em up immediately. Think I'd like Lasik someday. . .

I wore glasses all of my childhood, but now I wear contacts. Contacts are so much better. I would like Lasik but my prescription hasn't stabilized yet. I'm so blind its ridiculous.

I have glasses. If i didn't wear them every minute of everyday, I'd probably die.

Without them, I would have to be two inches (literally) away from this screen to read anything.

I wear glasses everyday except for when it rains, like today. It's not so bad. I dont even notice mine anymore. Get some nice frames that seem durable and dont get too upset when they get beat up. I do everything in mine. My versace's still have some mud on the side from going spelunking in them this summer.

I've had glasses since I was two. My left eye is lazy, so there is a strong ass prescription on that side and clear glass on the right. Go figure. You can't tell but if I don't wear them for a few months i start to look all unfocused, like i just got punched.

Edit: oh, and I wore contacts for a few years...they were nice, but too big of a pain to take out and put in every day. Glasses are easier, and for sporting activities I just take 'em off. I guess that isn't an option if you need them on at all times, but it works for me.

I want contacts again but I've been wearing glasses since I was in the 3rd grade.

When I wear contacts, I feel like I look like a jackass. I've got Clark Kent syndrome. Completely different person and no one recognizes me. I don't even get anything cool like xray vision to compensate.

Have needed them since I was 7.
I currently have 3 pairs, two of them are NJS.

So what about on sunny days? Prescription sunglasses, or normal sunglasses+contacts?

shasta
02-20-08, 08:11 PM
Prescription sunglasses are rad. I got two pairs of glasses before I got kicked off my moms insurance for not taking enough units at school this semester. Two identical pairs of ray-bans, one with clear lenses and one with shades. Oh yeah.

i got the glasses. i've been wearing them for about 11 years. lately though, i've been fine with going without them. i don't know why, but being sans glasses hasn't been too bad lately. i still wear them on the odd occasion that i drive, or when i go to the movies or a show, but for everyday use i just leave em at home.

and i hate sunglasses, so that never was a concern for me.

I wear glasses, all the time, and at work I have a special pair of bi-focal saftey glasses (super dorky!) so I can see all the tiny crap we have to work with.

I have a magnetic polarized sunglass that snaps onto my regular glasses, which I use just about everyday.

in the rain, I have a clear polycarbonate face shield that I made that snaps to the helmet.
I coat the outside with rainX, and the inside with anti-fog, works great, and I can wear my glasses in the rain while riding, and still see stuff.

they have this list of pre-existing conditions where if you have any one of them they can't do the procedure when you go to get lasix surgery,........I was #4 on that list :(

so it's glasses FOREVER!

I'm supposed to wear them, but I don't. My right eye is 20/25, but my left is 20/80. I haven't worn them for years now. I can pass the DMV test without them.

I wore contacts for a bit in highschool when I played baseball, I hated them.

I ride with glasses alla the time. It is pretty annoying to have to clean my glasses all the time, but on the other hand pretty frequently road detritus will bounce off my glasses, which is a lot better than it bouncing off my eyeball. The worst is when it rains, which is like all the time. Then the glasses bead up and you gave to kind of strain your eyeballs around the beaded up sections. Then you go into a cafe to get some coffee and the glasses immediately steam up and you can't see anything and you step on a cute girl's foot. Still, over all, riding with glasses RULEZZZZZZZ!

My vision is 20/400. I wore glasses for lots of years until I got over sticking my finger in my eyes and switched to contacts.

Contacts and sunglasses for some wins.

wanna face sheild?

serious offer, I have several that I made,...just send me a paper tracing of the curve of the front of your helmet*, and I'll bend one up for ya,......yes for free, thats the saddest glasses story I've ever heard and you live in frikkin OREGON! (did you get a date?)

(*including the snaps for the visor, because the face shield goes between the helmet and visor,..unless you have no visor, then I just use velcro, or mounting tape.)

noahjz I feel ya! I was out of contacts for 3 months and the rain in oregon and glasses was dangerous for me. At night with all the beading up car lights would reflect on every bead and I was pretty limited in my vision. Plus when I am bent over like in the drops or far forward on my horns at times I would be looking over my frames which is no bueno. contacts for me, Plus I can sleep in my contacts so they are not a real hassle.

I'd die without glasses....I tried contacts, but one day something fell in my eye while riding. I used eye drops, but it seems that dirt stayed in my eyes and gave me an infection and my eyes became really sensitive to light so i didn't go out in the day for about a week.

Contacts suck.

I would dig riding with glasses a lot more if they didn't fog up when I put on my balaclava. Or when I walked into the cigar store.

HOWEVER I discovered the other day that if I take them off, even people who know me well will not recognize me immediately. I feel like this might come in handy.

always wearing glasses, I look funny in contacts.

It's exactly like that for me too.

I've had glasses for like 15 years now and I don't like the way I look without 'em.
I do use contacts only when I go swimming, which is not that often at all.

The only problem I've ever had about being four-eyes-guy was when a drunk dude punched me in the face in the night bus couple of years ago and broke my favorite glasses. I took him to court for that and he ended up having to pay, though.

I wear glasses all the time unless I am playing sports (soccer, softball, mountain biking) then I wear contacts. I used to wear contacts all the time until i got a corneal ulcer from wearing them too much and decided I liked seeing so i now wear glasses all the time.

Oh and prescription sunglasses rule but the hassle of having to carry two pairs of glasses around sucks compared to contacts with regular sunglasses

My eyes went to hell last year--I've got a reading pair and a distance pair--and am going to have to shell out the bucks for a pair of "sports glasses" for ridding because I can't tell the difference b/t a tree or human

at 21mph the human will feel softer upon impact. :D

I have employed this many times. It can be very James Bond-like. If I'm just out to do a few errands and don't want to run into anyone I know I can lose the glasses, put on a baseball hat and I might as well be invisible.

I've been wearing glasses since 2nd grade. I'm not really comfortable without them anymore, and like a lot of people here, I think I look a lot better with them on. I was friends with a couple (pretty) girls a few years ago that called me Clark Kent, though, because they thought I was superman without my glasses on. They told me I was so much better looking with out them. -I hate backhanded compliments-

I've still never gotten contacts, though. I'm not too interested in them. I love having glasses. I will take my glasses off during a date if we are at a coffee shop or something. I don't know if it does anything, but I can use all the help I can get.

I also love prescription sunglasses and Wiley-X goggles. The goggles are awesome. I use them for cycling, Motorcycling, any sport, and airsoft. They are worth the cost.

I need them for distance so that means I usually ride with them. But one day last fall, it started to rain, and I put them in my top pocket. Got home and no glasses. The fell out somewhere along the way. Haven't been wearing them since but I'm seeing the eye doc next week for a new pair.
